With every passing day, experts are learning new things about the coronavirus that is ravaging the world. While many medicines and treatments were given the A-OK to ease the symptoms, some have been found to be ineffective, especially amid the second wave that has brought in more serious Covid symptoms. After trying many treatments, only some have helped. Here is a list of the therapies that have now been discontinued now to treat coronavirus.

Plasma

Plasma therapy was deemed as a life-saving treatment for those who are struggling with Covid, and was much encouraged. But now, its benefits are found to be limited and has been delisted from ICMR's treatment plan for Covid. Studies show that not only have no impact on the recovery time of patients, but many hospitals have been using the plasma irrationally.

Hydrochlorquine

HCQ was much debated as a Covid treatment drug last year, especially with former President Donald Trump endorsing it, but health authorities worldwide have questioned its use. While it is originally an antiviral drug to treat malaria, studies have shown that hydroxychloroquine could have some serious side effects in Covid patients.

Ivermectin

Once a popular medicine to treat the coronavirus, the WHO warned against the use of Ivermectin, unless it is part of a clinical trial. There are no studies yet to prove the effect of Ivermectin on Covid as the antiparasitic drug could also lead to some side effects as well.

Lopinavir/Ritonavir

This anti-HIV drug combo was used by many countries in an effect to dissipate symptoms of Covid, but the WHO called to discontinue the combination after solitary trials.
