Glenmark Launches Calcium Gluconate Injection in the U.S., Expanding Its Hospital Injectable Portfolio
New Injectable Product Targets the U.S. Institutional Healthcare Market
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA has launched calcium gluconate injection USP in the United States, adding another injectable product to its growing hospital portfolio.
The product is available in three presentations designed for use across different institutional healthcare settings. The launch is part of Glenmark’s broader strategy to expand its U.S. injectables business and build a stronger presence in the hospital market.
Three Strengths and Pack Sizes Now Available
Glenmark’s calcium gluconate injection USP is being launched in three formats:
- 1,000 mg/10 mL single-dose vials, equivalent to 100 mg/mL
- 5,000 mg/50 mL single-dose vials, equivalent to 100 mg/mL
- 10,000 mg/100 mL pharmacy bulk package, equivalent to 100 mg/mL
Having different package sizes allows hospitals and healthcare institutions to select the presentation that best fits their treatment and pharmacy requirements.
Generic Equivalent to Fresenius Kabi Product
Glenmark’s calcium gluconate injection is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference listed drug from Fresenius Kabi USA, LLC.
The reference product is calcium gluconate injection, available in the same 1,000 mg/10 mL, 5,000 mg/50 mL and 10,000 mg/100 mL strengths.
This means Glenmark’s product is positioned as a generic alternative to the established reference product in the U.S. market.
Glenmark Continues to Build Its U.S. Injectables Business
The launch fits into Glenmark’s larger plan to strengthen its injectable portfolio in North America.
The company has been focusing on products that serve hospitals and other institutional healthcare providers. Injectables are an important part of this market because hospitals need reliable access to essential medicines and different dosage presentations.
For Glenmark, adding calcium gluconate injection gives the company another product that can be supplied directly into this institutional market.
What Glenmark Says About the Launch
Marc Kikuchi, president and business head, North America, said the launch represents another step in strengthening Glenmark’s U.S. injectables business and expanding its hospital portfolio.
He also pointed to the company's focus on building a differentiated and sustainable injectables business that addresses institutional requirements and supports supply resilience.
The strategy is also aimed at increasing Glenmark’s role within the broader U.S. healthcare system.
Why Calcium Gluconate Injection Matters
Calcium gluconate injection is an injectable calcium product used in clinical settings where intravenous calcium supplementation is required.
For hospitals, the availability of injectable medicines is closely linked to dependable supply and appropriate packaging options. Products offered in single-dose vials and pharmacy bulk packages can support different medication preparation and administration requirements.
Glenmark's entry gives U.S. healthcare providers another source for calcium gluconate injection.
Focus on Supply Resilience
One of the key points behind Glenmark’s U.S. injectable strategy is supply resilience.
Hospitals depend on a steady supply of injectable medicines, and shortages can create operational challenges for healthcare providers. By expanding its portfolio of institutional products, Glenmark is looking to become a more relevant supplier for U.S. hospitals.
The calcium gluconate launch is part of this broader effort to provide additional supply options in the market.
Glenmark's Growing Hospital Portfolio
The company’s North American business continues to expand its focus on complex and institutional products.
The addition of calcium gluconate injection strengthens the range of injectable medicines available through Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA and supports its plans to build a sustainable presence in the U.S. hospital segment.
As more products are added to the portfolio, the company can serve a wider range of institutional procurement requirements while continuing to compete in the U.S. generic pharmaceutical market.
