NABH Issues Notification To MIS Centres To Implement NABH Accreditation Standards For MIS –2nd Edition
The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) has issued notification to Medical Imaging Services (MIS) centres for implementation of NABH Accreditation Standards for MIS –2nd Edition. This is in supersession to the previous MIS migration plan released in January 2020.Due to the unprecedented Covid situation, the previous plan could not be brought into force for implementation and hence a revised migration plan for transition of Applicant/Accredited MIS centres for the implementation of NABH Accreditation Standards for Medical Imaging Services –2nd Edition in their respective centres is being issued.NABH, a constituent board of Quality Council of India, established in 2005, is in its 15th year of creating an ecosystem of quality in healthcare in India. NABH standards focus on patient safety and quality of the delivery of services by the hospitals in the changing healthcare environment. NABH will start conducting assessments as per 2nd Edition standard from February 1, 2021 onwards.The MIS centres which are accredited (either fresh or renewal) as per 1st Edition before January 31, 2021will be required to upgrade their centres to the MIS 2nd Edition before June 30, 2021 and submit compliance report to NABH in the form of an internal audit report based on MIS 2nd Edition.The actual implementation of the 2nd edition by the center will be verified by NABH during the next due assessment. NABH has organised a Program on Implementation (POI) on NABH Accreditation Standards for MIS -2nd Edition) on February 27 and 28, 2021.“The training details are available at the link https://www.nabh.co/EventDetails.aspx?id=81. More such programs can be arranged as per the requests from the stakeholders on a later date, in case required,” according to Dr. Atul Mohan Kochhar CEO-NABH.The standards along with the Guidebook have already been released on December 14, 2019.The effective date of implementation of the standards for MIS Centres would be: For MIS Centres already accredited, by April 1, 2020 they must be in full compliance with the Second edition and the same will be verified during next on site assessment (which can be either surveillance or renewal audit); For MIS Centres seeking accreditation for the first time, after April 1, 2020 all assessments and accreditation decisions will be based on second edition.Any assessment and accreditation decision before April 1, 2020 will be based on the first edition. However, such centres would require complying with the second edition in next six months from the date of accreditation
