AlloSource Launches ReConnex Pre-Sutured Tendon to Support Faster ACL Reconstruction Procedures
New Tendon Allograft Designed to Simplify ACL Surgery
AlloSource has announced the launch of ReConnex Pre-Sutured Tendon, the latest addition to its AlloConnex portfolio of tendons, ligaments, and fascia products.
The new product is a ready-to-use, pre-sutured tendon that has received FDA 510(k) clearance. It has been developed to simplify all-inside Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction procedures by reducing the amount of preparation surgeons need to perform during surgery.
With the tendon already sutured before reaching the operating room, surgeons can spend less time preparing the graft and more time focusing on the procedure itself.
Designed to Reduce Operating Room Time
ACL reconstruction often requires surgeons to manually prepare and suture tendon grafts before implantation. This process can take time and may vary from one procedure to another.
ReConnex has been designed to eliminate this extra preparation step.
Since the tendon arrives pre-sutured and ready for use, it helps create a more consistent surgical workflow while reducing operating room time and minimizing preparation-related variability.
According to AlloSource, this can also help lower procedure-related costs.
Built for Consistency and Performance
Each ReConnex Pre-Sutured Tendon is carefully measured while under tension to ensure it meets the specified length and diameter.
The tendons also undergo extensive biomechanical testing to verify they meet strict performance standards before being released for clinical use.
ReConnex is available in diameters ranging from 8 mm to 10.5 mm.
The product also includes white loop passing sutures, allowing surgeons to easily add any all-inside suspensory fixation system during ACL reconstruction.
AlloSource Highlights Support for Sports Medicine
Kevin Whitten, Chief Commercial Officer at AlloSource, said the company developed ReConnex to help surgeons treat patients more efficiently.
He explained that the product removes the need for manual tendon suturing during surgery, helping reduce operating room time while improving consistency across procedures.
He also said the launch reflects AlloSource's long-standing commitment to supporting sports medicine through its AlloConnex tendon allograft portfolio, which has been serving surgeons for nearly 30 years.
Cleansed Using AlloTrue Technology
Like other products in the AlloConnex portfolio, ReConnex Pre-Sutured Tendon is processed using AlloSource's patented AlloTrue Cleansing Process.
This cleansing method is designed to penetrate deep into donor tissue to remove blood, lipids, and other unwanted materials while reducing microbial contamination.
The company says the process uses minimal tissue manipulation, helping preserve the tendon's natural biomechanical strength while improving safety.
Sterility Without Compromising Strength
After the cleansing process, the tendon undergoes low-dose, low-temperature electron-beam irradiation.
According to AlloSource, this additional sterilization step helps ensure the tissue is sterile while maintaining its biomechanical properties.
The company says this combination of deep cleansing and gentle sterilization is intended to provide surgeons with safe, reliable tendon allografts that maintain their structural integrity during reconstruction procedures.
Expanding the AlloConnex Product Portfolio
The launch of ReConnex strengthens AlloSource's growing portfolio of tendon, ligament, and fascia allografts designed for orthopedic and sports medicine procedures.
The company continues to focus on developing products that help surgeons perform procedures more efficiently while supporting better outcomes for patients undergoing ligament reconstruction and other orthopedic surgeries.
